October 21, 2016 - St. Nickolas apartment house, the restored 19th century building in Sheremetyevskoe Podvorye and one of Vesper’s signature projects, hosted the Masterpieces of the Jewellery Art show organized by Sotheby's auction house. The lots delivered to Moscow just for one day will go up for auction in Geneva on November 16th.
The collection presented in Moscow included exquisite necklaces, pendants, bracelets, brooches and tiaras created by Cartier, Van Cleef Van Cleef & Arpels, Rene Lalique and Jean Schlumberger jewellery houses. Among them were a 1880 emerald and diamond necklace from the collection of Princess Doria Pamphilj, 1930 Cartier diamond and emerald clip brooch featuring the stately lines geometry characteristic of the French jewelry house, gem and diamond “Jasmine” necklace by Jean Schlumberger, whose masterpieces imbued with floral motifs became the hallmark of the House of Tiffany & Co and decorated elegant garments worn by Jacqueline Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor.
The history of jewellery masterpieces which have became part of the world’s cultural heritage was presented by none other than Daniela Mascetti, Sotheby's Senior International Jewelry Director. The author of two famous reference books on the history of jewelry, she is a recognized world expert and the head of educational and research programs at Sotheby's Jewelry Institute. Daniela joined the auction house team more than 30 years ago. St. Nickolas Apartments located in the former house of counts Sheremetyev in Nikolskaya Street became part of the high art presentation.
The building’s historic walls, after a meticulous renovation, filled up with life again. Located just a few steps away from the Kremlin, Vesper's project has won two international European Property Awards and was announced as the winner of FIABCI Prix d'Excellence contest in the “Heritage and Restoration” category. Vesper has traditionally supported significant cultural events: from exhibitions in the newly opened Museum of Russian Impressionism and “Auction!” Charity Night to concerts by legendary violinist Dmitry Kogan and "Territory" theater festival. “We continue the history of our partnership with Sotheby's auction house and share its commitment to the preservation of the best examples of world art. We were happy to host the collection demonstrating impeccable taste at St.Nickolas House, where the luxury of jewelry masterpieces and historic walls of the cultural heritage property complemented each other in full harmony,” said Boris Azarenko, Vesper’s Director General.
